LORE

The Drakoria Empire lies on the island of Aetheris, a realm sectioned into distinct kingdoms. Each kingdom is governed by its own king or queen, with unique traditions, customs, and histories. At the heart of this network stands the Emperor and Empress, the central authority who unites these lands under the banner of Drakoria, maintaining harmony and overseeing its growth. Drakoria’s landscapes include meadows, mountain ranges, and forests. The island is home to the High Elven species. However, the empire has recently opened its gates to other races, bringing diversity as it rebuilds from their latest war. Dragons, thought to have been extinct since the war, once again soar through the skies. Although their numbers have dwindled, their return is a sign of Drakoria’s new era of hope.

A piece of the land was poisoned by dark magic from a previous war. This cursed region lies beyond the Ebonwood Forest, where twisted creatures and monsters dwell. These dark entities are held at bay by a powerful ward encircling the entire island. This ward, maintained through ancient rituals and blood sacrifices, serves as a barrier against threats seeking to corrupt the land. However, its strength is not eternal. Periodic recharges are required, achieved through the sacred ritual known as Haimanyx. Haimanyx is a ceremony involving the offering of life force. In the past it was offered by sacrificing powerful beasts like dragons. The ritual binds the magic of the realm to the ward. When the ward weakens, rifts may form, allowing the dark entities to spill into Drakoria. It was through such fractures centuries ago that the empire fell.

Currently, Emperor Daemon Zephyr and his wife, Empress Emberlyn Zephyr, sit on the throne. As Drakoria rebuilds, a fragile peace settles over the land. But whispers of dissent grow louder, and the threat of the dark beings beyond the ward persists. The next Haimanyx draws near, and with it, the balance between salvation and destruction.
